When your religion's trademark is coffee, you know its people are spiritually dehydrated. Crossroads is another dime-a-dozen megachurch that spends all of its time entertaining the audience with gimmicks than providing them an enriching Bible education. Very few people had Bibles, and even less used them. This is a typical church that emphasizes live music - EXTREMELY LOUD MUSIC - and the local celebrity of its pastors over in-depth Bible study, which are always signs that there's nothing of nutritional value on their "menu". The programs they present on stage are like watching a PG-era WWE show, expect the WWE isn't using religion as a means to draw people to entertainment. Crossroads does the reverse. It's all razzle-dazzle. In contrast to the efforts put on by the church to attract people, Jesus taught the crowds “as a person having authority.” His ministry was straightforward and without gimmickry. As he explained, “Just as the Father taught me I speak these things.” What was the result? “Many put faith in him.”—Matthew 7:29; John 8:28, 30

“Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens,” said Jesus Christ, “but the one *doing the will of my Father* [emphasis mine] who is in the heavens will." (Matthew 7:21) If you come to Crossroads, you will not learn what God's will is, never mind learning how to do it. Instead of hot coffee, look for the people who serve water. Life's water of knowledge and truth. I'm sure they're out there, somewhere, but they're not at Crossroads. Isaiah 55:1; Revelation 22:17

  • When I say massive, I mean MASSIVE. I've never seen a church this big. Great programs and the people are really nice. The fireplace area in the cavernous front area is very nice.

"When your religion's trademark is coffee, you know its people are spiritually dehydrated."

Wow, that perfectly summarizes my experiences at Crossroads and every other church in the region.

Excellent coffee, location, and building. BUT, the music is so loud that I had my fingers in my ears through two songs, then had to walk out. This was my second try at this church; second horrible experience with severely ringing ears. I was amazed to see everyone else okay with it, actually dumbfounded. Had they all lost their hearing? I complained in the lobby this time and was told that several people complain about how loud the music is, so we now provide ear plugs at the guest desk. Really? Provide earplugs? How about turning the volume button down? I was even told some people sit out in the lobby during the music because it's too loud.

As a doctor, I know I could send the health department to this place and they would close it down. Don't take your children here unless you want them to experience tinnitus or hearing loss for the rest of their life... You may think I'm going over board, but try it if you don't mind losing one of the most important sensory organs you have. Once again, I'm really dumbfounded that the pastors of this church care so little about something so important. This place could be one of the best churches in northern Kentucky with just a turn of the knob; or replacing those in charge of the volume.

Think of it this way. Shouldn't church be a place where you would be proud to bring your grandmother, baby daughter, loved ones visiting from out of town?

It's been 12 hours since my visit and my ears are still ringing. Thanks, but no thanks. Be more considerate of your visitors. What would Jesus do? Hand out ear plugs?
